Robert Vaughn Joins his Magnificent Co-Stars
The sole remaining member of 1960’s classic, The Magnificent Seven has passed on. Should you get a chance to pick up a copy of his autobiography A Fortunate Life, you’ll have yourself a good read.
Robert Vaughn 1932-2016
Vaughn as Lee in a cast consisting of Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Horst Buchholz, Charles Bronson, Brad Dexter and James Coburn. Proof positive that they don’t make them like they used to.
Found this out just an hour or so ago…sad that they’re all leaving us (or have left us). Kirk Douglas, Doris Day, Olivia de Havilland…only a few big names left. And how can Jerry Lewis and Eva Marie Saint be in their 90s? Thankfully I have a tower full of movies to help me remember them by.
The passage of time has claimed almost all my celluloid heroes. Kirk now nearing the 100 mark. Did you sign up for the Kirk’s birthday blogathon?
No, I didn’t know about the Kirk blogathon…I’ll track it down and check it out! I might go with an odd one if nobody’s grabbed it yet!
I went with Posse.
Vaughn wasn’t the longest lived member of the cast of The Magnificent Seven (that was Eli Wallach at 98 years old), but he was certainly the last to leave us. It seems to me to be the end of an era I grew up with and loved–the traditional American Westerns, of which The Magnificent Seven was one of the last.
I love to ask the trivia question to name 8 people that are in the Magnificent 7…lol wondering if they’ll get Eli as the 8th. That is if they get Horst and Brad. Love those classic westerns more than any other genre.
